Since the start of our name creation operations in the 80s, Skriptor has developed a method for generating and screening new brand names in an integrated process. This process is based on:

  • Thorough review and analysis of the naming problem.
  • Fixed steps and client involvement at critical points in the process.
  • Holistic view of the problem complex, integrating creativity with law and linguistics.
In the actual generation of names, the experience and creativity of the consultants are backed by both manual and automated aids, such as systematic follow-up of basic ideas by dictionary and encyclopedia research, use of external and in-house built databases, in-house developed word generating software, etc. This ensures that all identified keys are explored exhaustively and in an economic way. The names may be derived from existing or classical languages, or be completely newly invented words. They may be gentle or powerful, or have a technical or romantic ring. They can be descriptive or associative, or completely arbitrary.

Legal screening is carried out in association with Compu-Mark, using its unique range of trademark databases and services, and the screening is applied throughout the entire name creation process. All legal work is adapted to client requirements and takes the client’s own legal resources into account.

Linguistic screening can be applied at any stage of the process, to serve as a guideline or simply to avoid linguistic improprieties prior to final decisions. All linguistic screening is performed by native linguists in the countries concerned. Skriptor’s network covers the entire globe.
